2 Day Challenge – Brecon Beacons

The 2 day challenge Brecon Beacons is a team challenge, that will see you hike, navigate and use camp craft as you make your way around the Brecon Beacons and spend a night under the stars.

What to Expect?

Day 1
14 miles, Moving through a tough circular route with steep climbs, summiting Pen Y Fan, Cribyn, and Fan Y Big. Option of carrying all the kit required for 24 hours on the ground or adjusting the load to accommodate fitness levels (minimum kit list applies).

At the start of the day you will be issued your kit, which includes, poncho, rations and cooking equipment. Managing and looking after your kit is a vital part of the outdoors and will play a big part in the challenge.

Team Leaders will be appointed and there will be designated team kits which must be carried for the entire route. TL’s are tasked with managing the team, maintaining cohesiveness and delegating tasks for team effectiveness.

After a demanding full day hike, it doesn’t finish there. The learning continues with the fundamentals of pitching a basha (poncho/tarp suspended between two trees as a shelter from the elements). Then shown how to cook a basic meal on a Hexi Stove and paired up in a buddy buddy system to put the new skills into practice.

What to Expect?

Day 2
Will be 8 miles, and up at first light and an early start.

A fairly demanding climb to start but a far easier route overall with some of the best views of the valley and Pen Y Fan. We will travel lighter on this day as we move together.

We will finish at a waterfall where we will test our cold water immersion skills!

Admin, dry off, get fed, warm and dry.
