Our Coasteering activities run from Abereiddy Beach near St Davids, Pembrokeshire.
Abereiddy is the home of an old flooded slate quarry, known as the blue lagoon. The Blue Lagoon is one of the original sites used for Coasteering, when it was invented in St Davids in the late 1980’s. Since then the venue has also be used by Redbull for their World Series Cliff Diving Championships. Making the Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy a location that is steeped in beauty, history and adventure.

What is Coasteering?
In case you need a bit more info or convincing!!!
Coasteering was pioneered in St David’s, and has become one of the fastest growing water based activities in the UK. But what is it?
We have heard many different answers to this question and many a preconceived idea. The answer we have heard and like the best is the official National Coasteering Charter’s description, “traversing along the coastline where the sea meets the land”. You might ask “great but what does that mean?!”
It means, We will take you on an adventure around the coastline, exploring caves, coves, blowholes and lagoons. In doing this we will get you to jump off and climb over the natural rugged rocks and swim from point to point, all of which will certainly get the adrenaline pumping.
The Main Points
Swimming – You do not have to be a strong swimmer. With all the safety kit we wear it is actually more about floating and paddling in the right direction. we have taken none swimmers, but please discuss this with us first.
Jumping – There is no need to be scared of the word “Jumping” We start very low and build you up in technique and confidence, before you take on the Lagoon towers! But be rest assured, there is always another options other than jumping and you only do what you are comfortable with.
Climbing – We will boulder around the coastline, we don’t go to high and it is a controlled manner, but you will feel exhilarated with a sense of achievement.
The exciting thing for us is that no two coasteers are the same. Factors like tide levels and the swell that mother nature throws at us all means each coasteering session has it’s own challenges and different experiences.
NOTE! Please book early as our calendar gets busy, especially over the Summer months.
In addition to Coasteering we also run an online clothing store with some great, St Davids and Pembrokeshire based T-shirts and hoodies, If you are looking for a souvenir of your visit view our shop
When the sea is calm and there’s no swell to play in, We go and explore the Pembrokeshire Coast line, this summers day near the Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy.
Gift Voucher for 2021
Why not get your kids, partner, friend, work colleague a special treat by booking them an adventure for 2021
We are a St Davids based company with the majority of our guides having grown up and been schooled in North Pembrokeshire, An area we are very proud of and love having the chance to show off its beauty, adventure and history to our clients. If you come with us for an adventure be sure to ask for any local information you may want.
We’ve mentioned that commercial Coasteering was invented in St Davids, in the late 80’s. well some of our guides were jumping off the towers in their shorts in the early 80’s, whilst we know many a local, who tell us they were doing it back in the 60’s and maybe before. Which goes to show, People have always wanted adventure!
Video – Staff training in the eye of a storm, all sessions had to be cancelled so we went out for a bit of training and high octane fun, just to keep ourselves fresh and on the ball!
Our Coasteering Guides
The Motely Crew!
Ryan “Twm” Thomas, age (early 30’s),
Twm, hails from Pen y Cwm (Top of Newgale Hill) He attended St Davids Secondary School (on the days there was no surf). These days we are lucky have him working for us as he spends his Summers in Pembrokeshire and his winters surfing in Bali.
A former Welsh Surfing champion and member of the UK pro circuit means he is super confident and capable in the water and is popular with the guests and takes pride in what he does. Outside of the water Twm is also a keen footballer, and describes himself as the Messi of Solva AFC (I’m sure he said that)
Harvey Godkin, age 21
Due to his parentage Harvs has had little choice other than to come through the MUUK-Adventures apprenticeship scheme! He was 10 when the company started and has pretty much been involved in everything since then.
Another one who likes to spread his wings and travel in the winter or turn out as a regular for St Davids RFC as possibly the tallest scrum half in the league at 6’3”
Anya Walton, age 18
A local girl who grew up as an active member of Portmawr Surf lifesaving club, Now splits her time as a Pembrokeshire college student, an RNLI Beach Lifeguard and working for MUUK-Adventures and of course managing her insta account @Anywalton.
If not in the Pub, on the beach or in the water, Anya can be found in the Gym.
Ed Phillips, Age Early 30’s
A Fishguard boy, but we don’t hold that against him. An electrician by trade, but loves the adventure, excitement and meeting new people that Coasteering provides. Ed is super strong in the water and likes it big! loving nothing better that a gainer or penguin dive off the Blue Lagoon Towers.
Jeff Tierney, age mid 50’s
and no sign of easing up!
The elder statesman of the team, but without doubt has more energy than all of us put together, the original Duracell bunny. Jeff a former chief scout, breaks the mold of the team, as he is originally from the valleys but has been a Pembrokeshire resident for 20 years so almost a local. Jeff, has many a successful business behind him. is an Ironman, a keen kayaker and a great, great story teller, which you will find out on any of his sessions.
And just to show his versatility Jeff is also known as “Twinkle Toes” is a salsa dance instructor, and a very slick dresser.

It is extremely rare that the weather will stop play on a coasteering session, especially in Abereiddy. It can happen and if so, we will look to reschedule or refund. The main thing the weather determines is how far we can explore and how much adrenaline we will use up!
On the days when the weather is lovely and the sea is flat, coasteering is a great experience and way of exploring the wonderful coast line. as can be seen on the video below, whilst if the sea is raging we have fun feeling its full force!
