Wild Welsh Walks

If one good thing came out of 2020, it was that many of us decided to explore our own Island and realised what beauty it had to offer.

If one bad thing happened to our beautiful Island in 2020 was that everyone headed to its beauty spots.

After months of being cooped up with our ability to travel removed (who would have thought). There is no wonder that people felt the need to get out and explore. High on people’s radar were, places like Snowdon and Pen y Fan. Why? Because they are well publicised, and people do feel the need to reach the top!

Now we are not knocking this in any shape our form. But another reason why people went to the well-known spots, are genuine and sensible ones. Such as they are easy to find and are relatively safe for the social and inexperienced walker.

Wild Welsh Walks

We at MUUK-Adventures and Wild Welsh Walks felt fortunate, that we had been to the top of these peaks many a time and had done most of the “well documented” tourist spots in Wales.

Therefore, we decided to spread our wings and explore areas, that we had never been to and were hard to find. Places that were well and truly off the beaten track.

What amazed us on our travels, is that on occasions we walked/hiked for 3 to 15hrs without seeing another soul, building or even road. Where the beauty was indescribable and where you could hear a pin drop.

Our Wild Welsh Walks also kept our minds and bodies focused throughout the most mind-boggling year of them all. It is no secret that walking is good for people’s mental health and many people are now promoting this and encouraging us all to do it more. But its certainly not a new concept

I had a book for Christmas, “100 Great Walks” and in the intro there is a quote.

“I Walk to rest my beating mind”

William Shakespeare 1466

Wild Welsh Walks

It was during these explorations, we came up with Wild Welsh Walks, and what we believe is the best way to see our little corner of the British Ilse’s.

The Details

The 2 day Snowdonia Adventure is just that. We will spend two days walking in some of Wales’s most magical mountainous locations.

The Snowdonia region has so much more to offer than just Snowdon. On this adventure we will take you off the beaten track, avoiding the crowds and exploring some of Wales most scenic and remote places.

We will arrange to meet at a pre-determined venue at 0900hrs on the Saturday morning. For an informal briefing and chat over coffee. Where we will ensure everyone is prepared.

At 1000am we will begin our adventure. We will walk throughout the day and will have lunch in the wild whilst out on our hike. We will use the rest time to show you navigational tips, such as easy ways to understand and use a map and compass.

Safety tips on what to do in an emergency, how to manage the weather conditions and how to respect the land. All things that will make you a better and safer hiker.

Depending on the time of year, we will walk in the darkness, this is a good skill to have and a great experience. There is something magical about walking in the wild in the dark.

At approximately 2000hrs we will arrive at our accommodation for the night (Bunkhouse). Here we will provide you with a hot meal and beverage, as we debrief the days hiking, going over any queries or questions you may have.

Day 2

We will have breakfast at 0800hrs and looking to be out on our hike at 0900hrs. The morning will be spent exploring some more equally spectacular places and you can use this time to test your navigational skills with a map and compass (only if you want, its not an exam)

We will be back at our hostel and vehicles for approximately 2pm, for lunch and a debrief, allowing people plenty of time to return home.

Corporate / Training Packages

Overview

For many years, Multi-national businesses, Professional sports teams, Educational establishments and small companies have used the great outdoors for team building and training. To develop their staff, turn them into leaders by teaching them valuable transferable workplace skills.

As we enter 2021 and beyond, we believe that none of this has ever been more import.

Due to the Covid-19’s impact on the World, Workplaces and the people that make them tick have had periods or inactivity and or extra pressures like no other year.

Staff have had to make decisions with no precedent set, all without the personal, daily, and visual support of colleagues and managers.

Managers and supervisors have also had to deal with their own wellbeing and pressures, as well as that of the staff they supervise and the business they are trying to run.

In short 2020 and 2021 have been extremely difficult and in many cases, staff have had to step out of their comfort zones and deliver. Although many have done this well, it cannot be expected or taken as a given, that they are not at tipping point or in need of guidance and development in these feels.

We use the outdoors, The Mountains, Coast and Sea to teach vital skills. To develop your team, create leaders and empower managers. These things can not be created remotely or over a video conference alone. The work force needs to be robustly challenged

Although we use the outdoor environment, to get our messages across. It is not all about having adventure packed fun. There is structure and tasks to ensure the learning is relevant to the industry and quantifiable.

We have recently started our own Leadership in the Outdoors Apprenticeship in conjunction with The Urdd and Gower College. Designed to assist young people to reach their potential
