How to Book
- £5 Deposit
A £5 non refundable deposit books the swim. The remaining amount is paid the day before or on the day of the swim in person. This is done to try and make the process of cancellation due to adverse weather fairer and simple. Please note that if the event is postponed the £5 will be transferred to the new date, following years event or another swim.

The Green Monster
The Green Monster is the original in the Swim to the edge series. Set in Solva an idyllic harbour village, in the middle of the Pembrokeshire coast national park. This swim is visually stunning but also a real test of ability and nerve as you enter the deep water of St Brides Bay and navigate yourself around the imposing Green Scar Island That sits a mile off the coast line.

The Green Monster Solva Swim (approx. 2 miles)
There are no buoys marking the route. You will swim out of the harbour passing Black Rock, which sits in the middle of its entrance. This section can get to people! It is not uncommon for swimmers to turn around here, because of the swell that might be bouncing off the rocks on either side of you.
Once past Black Rock, you can be faced with the rolling swell of the Bay as you head towards Green Scar Island, which dominates the horizon. It is on this section that you will face a real mental challenge of the deep water and potential marine life. Then its down to your decision making. Do you negotiate your way around the Island by staying close and running the risk of the swell breaking against Green Scar or do you go nice and wide and pick up some more distance!
The trip back is one long sighting and navigation test as you head back to the harbour. The trick is, “Aim for the Houses”
All of this makes the swim one of the most scenic and challenging open water swims in the UK. It’s a real swimming challenge.
Warning
Only experienced sea swimmers should attempt this swim. Do not let these swims be your first sea swim.
Skin Swimmers
We actively welcome Skin swimmers at our events. But we ask that they are honest about their experienced and ability. Our bench march is, having swam a similar distance, in UK waters within the past 12 months without a wetsuit. That they have trained for this event as a skin swimmer.
