What do we do?

COASTEERINGEVENTSADVENTURE BREAKS

This is a question we get asked from time to time and to sum it up.

MUUK-Adventures are a provider and facilitator of all things outdoor related. We specialise in 3 areas; Endurance Sports, Adventure Breaks, and Water Based Activities.

We manage to achieve this by having a diverse team and working with our partners, who are all established leaders and experts in their fields and by having a can do approach and attitude to life. We really do enjoy working with people from all walks of life and giving them a unique outdoor experience they may never of had. This is the most satisfying part of the whole MUUK-Adventures journey for us.

Although we hail from St Davids, on the Western tip of Wales in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, An area that has its fair share of adventure spots. We also like to travel and explore and in doing so host a number of adventures around Wales and overseas.

Endurance Events

These include Coastal Path half, full and ultra-Marathons; Open water swimming, Cycle Sportives and Mud Runs. All are rugged, popular and challenging, with the secret ingredient being, The Pembrokeshire landscape!

Adventure Breaks

These are suitable for School groups, hen, stag, family or Sport Teams and are full of adventure and delivered with a smile and personal touch. Most of our breaks are situated around St Davids but we do offer other package such as

Water Based Activities

Such as coasteering, kayaking, and surfing, are mainly carried out in Abereiddy Bay, home of the Blue Lagoon and a real jewel in the Pembrokeshire Coast.

Whatever the package you choose, we strive to make it an experience to remember and to give you something you cannot get elsewhere. With our own brand of customer service in a friendly, informal and fun manner.

Our Location

2021 will see us take up residence in our new home, MUUK-Adventures HQ in St Davids, Which is Britain’s smallest City. This is an area that is steeped in history, natural beauty and miles and miles of natural playground for the adventure seekers of all abilities and we pride ourselves on our expert local knowledge, customer service and ability to give our clients what they want, whilst of course having lots of fun in the process.

How it all started

In 2010 whilst trying to find a fund raising idea for St Davids RFC Mini and Junior section, we came up with the idea of the Whitesands Challenge – a small triathlon with modest distances, made unique because the first leg was a kayak instead of swim (because in those days no one fancied swimming!!) and the spectacular, if not a bit difficult run,  around Carn Llidi Mountain to finish off.

The first challenge saw 6 individuals and about 10 teams compete and was very much a bit of fun with the only award being, the bragging rights of who was the fittest in St Davids (although I can’t seem to remember who won the first one!!!!!). In reality the real reason for hosting the event was an excuse to have the now legendary cocktail / fancy dress after party.

Due to the popularity of the Challenge we did it all over again the following year, with more individuals having a go at the whole thing. This only seemed to drive peoples enthusiasm and requests for more events. We received a variety of suggestions on what these should be and from there, we put a little website together and came up with our name, Man-Up UK, which was basically a bit of tongue in cheek!

From that point things really started to take off and lead to us adding an extra event each year. From here, The Ras Dewi Sant (coast path marathon); Man-up in the Mud, a mud run based at Celtic Camping, The Pencarnan Run Series and Swim to the Edge were born.

2015 saw us open up the Man-up Activities Shop in St Davids. Man Up UK introduced a clothing range along with activities such as Kayak fishing, Tour of the Saints (a sightseeing guided bike tour of the Peninsular and off road mountain biking trips). It was a busy and exciting time for us.

It’s fair to say things have progressed and extremely quickly for us over the past few years with a total of approximately 5000 people taking part in our events and over £20,000 being raised for local charities or organisations in the process.

What made all of this possible was the massive support received from the local community in offering assistance to marshal events, use of equipment and land to make things happen.

2016, Was a big year for us behind the scenes. Two new directors with lots of business, hospitality and performance experience came on board. These guys were not only professional in their approach to work and business and ensuring things were right. But also had the right ethos at the forefront of what they stood for. Which is basically life is there to be enjoyed and what we do has to be for the right reasons.

2018 saw us set up our Water based activity business at the Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy and has given us the pleasure of working on a beach for 6 months of the year, and to really cement our adventure activities like coasteering and kayaking into our portfolio

However possibly the biggest change of 2019 and the biggest since we have started is the change of our branding. We have moved away from Man-Up UK and are now MUUK-Adventures. This change has been a much thought over move and please see our “Sign of the Time” blog that covers the rational behind it.

2020 was meant to be our 10th anniversary and lots was planned. Like everyone else in the world we had to change and adapt, We have remained positive and have worked hard over the year to ensure that we are about for 2030 and beyond.
