How it all Started
MUUK ADVENTURES ABOUT US
MUUK-Adventures about us, founder Fintan Godkin, spent his early adult years working in the outdoor industry. Like so many others, in his mid 20’s thought he should get a proper job! This lead to a 16 year police career. During his service he held many specialist roles, But after 10 years the itch for the outdoors was strong and for a period he balanced both.
This was 2010 and coincided with trying to find a fundraising idea for St Davids RFC Mini and Junior section. Fintan along with friends (Mainly Carwyn Richards) came up with the idea of the Whitesands Challenge. A small triathlon with modest distances, The event was made a bit different by swapping the swim for a kayak, because in those days no one fancied sea swimming! The event also benefited from the great, if not a bit difficult, run around Carn Llidi Mountain to finish off.
The first challenge saw 6 individuals and about 10 teams compete. It was very much a bit of fun with the only award being, the bragging rights of who was the fittest in St Davids (although I can’t seem to remember who won the first one!!!!!). In reality the real reason for hosting the event. Was to have the now legendary cocktail and fancy dress after party.
It was Popular
Due to the popularity of the Challenge we did it all over again the following year. More individuals had a go and it was cemented in the local calendar for 8 years. It seemed to drive peoples enthusiasm for more and requests for different events. We received a variety of suggestions on what these should be. From there, we put a little website together and started adding more events to our calendar. By 2013 we had a Mud Run, a Coast Path Marathon (Ras Dewi Sant) and open water swimming events (Swim to the Edge).

2015 saw us open a Shop in St Davids. Introducing a clothing range along with activities such as Kayak fishing, sightseeing guided bike tours of the Peninsular and off road mountain biking trips. It was a busy and exciting time for us.
It’s fair to say things have progressed extremely quickly for us. The first 5 years we had a total of approximately 5000 people taking part in our events and over £20,000 being raised for local charities or organisations in the process.
What made all of this possible was the massive support received from the local community. In offering assistance to marshal and use of equipment and land to enable events.
2016, Was a big year behind the scenes. Two new directors with lots of business, hospitality and performance experience came on board. These guys were not only professional in their approach to work and business. They had the right ethos at the forefront of what they stood for. Which is basically life is there to be enjoyed and what we do has to be for the right reasons.
2018 saw us set up our Water based activity business at the Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy. This gave us the pleasure of working on a beach for 6 months of the year, and to really cement our adventure activities. Like adding coasteering and kayaking to our portfolio. From there our residential trips were born. We now also operate from our base in St Davids. However our reach is far and wide. We provide Mountain and Sea Adventures across Wales and world wide, with trips to Everest Base Camp and Morocco growing in popularity.
Development
In 2019 MUUK Adventures introduced MUUK Training to the portfolio. Fintan utilised his previous Policing experience in risk management and being a First responder to provide bespoke training in these areas
Our founder Fintan Godkin, still runs the company on a daily basis and is always open to working with individuals and groups from across the board on all things adventure related.
One of the greatest things has been seeing the company develop into what it is and working alongside his sons, niece and school friends in introducing people to adventure in Wales and showing off the beauty of the country.
