Little Haven Swim 2025
The Little Haven Swim 2025
The Result
What a lovely morning we had at Little Haven. We really do enjoy the event. It’s a chance for us to leave the North Pembs coastline for a few hours in the manic season that is August. To visit the lovely village of Little Haven. What makes it so great is the welcome and support we have off the Regatta Team it just makes the logistics so easy.
The event is not a profit making event for us, We cover genuine costs of our team. Which on a day like today had an easy ride of it, whilst last year we had to work a bit harder!! and any surplus funds gets feed back into the Regatta to help them to fund the next one and so on! Because we think community events like the Little Haven Regatta are so important for all age groups. Therefore we try and keep the costs down but thank each and everyone of you who came along to take part and support it.
The race itself went swimmingly! With a mixture of some very quick swimmers and those who were totally brand new to open water sea swimming so well done to all, whatever your goal was we hope you achieved it.
The 2 leaders Isabelle (17 years of Age) and Edward, were neck and neck all the way around with only a second separating them at the end. A great effort. On a side note and even more impressive than his swimming. On meeting Edward, he asked me what my date of birth was, and within 5 seconds told me I was born on a Wednesday! He was right!!
Else where on the field, Gareth Thomas and Jeff Richards were flying the flag for the little bit older crowd, and getting the 50 and 60 year olds into the top 10. Whilst a regular of ours Matthew Jenkins was the first skin swimmer home, It was good to see him back after a bit of a break.
Whilst in the female category carnage was breaking out (our fault) over the placing of the 2nd and 3rd. Due to a congested finish line and a admin error, ( A simple thing like writing an 8 instead of a 2! Sometimes you have to admit, it was our fault. But it is all sorted now. With Clara Davies taking 2nd Place, Kelly House taking 3rd Place (And not joint) with Hazel Rudder and Angharad Harris taking joint 4th. (Sorry for causing a spike in highs and lows)
I spoke to plenty of the ladies that finished who stated this was their first sea swim or that they were very new to swimming, which is great to see. People being able to step out of their comfort zone, no matter what age and give something a try, We are big fans of that.
And taking about stepping, I big shout out to Marion Seaton for swimming with her leg in a boot and using crutches to enter and exit the water. Again great to see.
Until next year!
