Pudding Run 2024
Our first staging of the Broad Haven 10K Pudding Run went without incident (Always nice to say) The weather was kind, perfect running conditions and a good crowd turned up to support the event. It’s always difficult taking over such a well run and long standing event. And once again a big thankyou to Hazel for all her efforts in the years gone by to make the event successful.
10K Pudding Run
As I was putting the signs out and driving around the course, I thought this is actually a long old way! You sometimes dismiss it as “Only a 10K”. What strikes me on this route and always has is the long straight roads, which can go one of two ways in the head. 1) Christ they are far away, or 2) I’m going to catch them!
Another thing that surprised me a bit and which I think was a nice mix. Was the mixture of runners. I could see a few well known faces and names of very accomplished runners, Combined with those in fancy dress, Those who were first timers and those out to run of the Xmas indulgence as a family get together. Whatever the reason, It was great to see a mixed field with everyone giving it their best and dare I say appearing to enjoy the moment.
Thanks to
As with every event that are always those that make it tick in one way or another. and with that a massive thanks to
- The Marshals that got up early during the Xmas Holidays to assist.
- Grace at her team at The YHA Broad Haven. Who gave us our base and kept us all fed.
- DANFO for opening the toilets for us for the day. We’d have noticed if they weren’t open.
- Hazel, Once again for her support leading up to the event.
- Heidi for her Miniature Xmas Pudding Brownie’s on the finish line!
- And last but not least all you the runners for supporting the event.
The Results
(Please note, some results might be missing or their may be errors. If so, please email your name, number and any time you may have recorded and will will rectify)
I mean with the winner Michael Ward coming in at 35m 50 seconds, he didn’t give many others a chance! and the first 20 runners all being under 50mins shows a few too many didn’t over do the Xmas celebrating I think! And one of those 20 was the first female, Rosie Wright with a time of 42:55 and 8th overall. I’m sure from memory, Rosie is a course record holder on our Ras Dewi Sant!?!
I think my highlight of the day and unfortunately I don’t know the ladies name, was driving down long lane and seeing a girl running dressed as a Christmas Present. I thought fair play!!
Kids Race
Whilst the main event was taking place, a number of little people had their own race around a course on the beach and well done to all of them. As usual with the youngsters, they started like a bull in a China shop and then had to hand on till crossing the line.
