The Blue Monster 2024

Back in the Sea! Saturday Afternoon we made the call to Swim the Blue Monster on Sunday, as it was looking pretty good in Abereiddy. Then by 9pm that night it was rough again! and we were thinking oh no!

Then the morning came and it was ok again, the sun was shinning and the sea state was good. However at 130pm a couple of hours after the swimmers had left, the wind had picked up and there were a lot of white horses out there. It really is so hit and miss at the moment.

But for us, It was great to get you guys back in the sea and to watch everyone swim out of the lagoon. The swimmers on the blue monster were all super strong and it made for an enjoyable morning for me, watching from the cliffs.

In the 1K it was good to see a younster (Isabelle) take the first female slot at the tender age of 16, Well done. Whilst on the big one, it seems to be swimmers hit their prime at 50 plus, when it comes to distance, there is hope for us all yet.

Kerstin Thomas pipped Nicola Lett to the finish line, but Nicola had done enough in the first two swims to ensure she claimed the series win.

I think all who were on Abereiddy Beach will agree it was a great way and location to end a weekend of swimming.
