Swim to the Edge Series 2024
The Swim to the Edge series 2024
The Swim to the Edge Series. The series will see the competitors taking on 3 major open water swimming challenges, (The Big 3) at iconic Welsh coastal spots. The swims are
- The Green Monster – Solva Swim approx 2miles
- The Blue Monster – Abereiddy Swim 2.2 miles
- The Great White – Whitesands Swim 2.4 Miles
If you enter all 3 swims you will obtain points for your position in each swim and the overall winners will obtain a special prize! Those who complete all 3 swims will also receive a Swim to the Edge, Big 3 medal. This will be on top of the individual medals they have for each event.
We have made each swim slightly different, each with their own unique challenges. But what is the same, is they are all sea swims in iconic places and will all test your swimming ability.
First-Up
The Great White – Whitesands Bay – Friday 19th July @18:00 hrs
The green monster has become a firm favourite with many. A great swim that see’s you swim out of Solva harbour and around the imposing rock that is Green Scar. This one tests your nerve and navigation.
Second up
The Green Monster – Solva – Saturday 20th July @10:30 hrs
The blue monster will be the day after the Green Monster, making it a chance for you to make a weekend of it down in St Davids and to challenge your swimming ability with two monster swims back-to-back. The Blue Monster in 2023 is reverting back to its roots and will see swimmers start and finish in the magnificent Blue Lagoon.
This swim is a real test of your navigation, sighting and stamina, the changes in direction and movement certainly make you work hard!
Third Up
The Blue Monster – Abereiddy Beach. Sunday 21st July @0900hrs
New for 2023, this swim see’s us return to where it all started at Whitesands. Another iconic Welsh beach, nestled between Ramsey Sound and St Davids Head. This swim is 2.4 miles long. It will be broken down into 2 laps, between each lap the swimmers will do an Aussie Exit onto the beach. The timing, length and style of this swim also makes it an ideal training run for Ironman Wales. Beware there may be surf and swell.
How it Works
If you enter all swims, you will get points for your position in each event, which will go onto a leader board and the winner of each category will get an award and prize bag. These will be on top of the event merchandise for each individual event.
